Travelers experiences

I used Lagoon 38 of SAILOE in may for a small family trip. Boat is great, I am certified skipper but we decided to take local skipper for local knowledge. Captain Dan was great, polite and knowledgeable. Overnight anchoring in Anse Lazio on Praslin island is a beautiful anchoring spot.

It was far not the first experience of charter bareboat for me, but it was one of the few times when I can't say anything negative about charter company. Initially we booked Lagoon 38 of 2016, but ~ 1 week before our charter we were upgraded to Lagoon 42 of 2017 absolutely for free. Guess it was something wrong with the first one, but anyway. So I would say it was as good charter experience as it could be. Catamaran itself was absolutely fine, we hadn't any problems with it, passed check in and check out smoothly and quickly.
The only advice I would give to potential clients - don't count on snorkeling masks and paddles that are included - much better to take yours with you.

We had a wonderful time, and the captain and cook supplied made it even better. They understood our desire for beach time, snorkeling time and sailing time and were amazingly able to help us optimize our time.

Before the trip, we had trouble arranging some of the details via email (we do these trips twice/year and like to have things settled) . Once we arrived, the renter jumped right into action and everything was wonderful, proving that their approach of "we'll worry about it later" works just fine for them, even if it wasn't great for us beforehand.

The boat was in great condition and the entire trip was wonderful. I would highly recommend the Seychelles, especially the turtle park and the islands up in the northern part of the cluster.

Trustworthy renter
I had rented a catamaran from a competitor for 2 weeks in January 2019. After a week, the first 40-foot catamaran (broken fridge) was replaced by a bigger one (47 feet) but the windlass broke away on the first ascent from the anchorage.
We rushed to Sail Together to rent a Lagoon 380 less than a year old, presented by a very nice and competent team and all this for the same price as the previous charterer (3370 € per week).
Eden Island where Sail Together is located is excellent to take possession of the boat and do the provisioning, but leave as soon as possible to Praslin or La Digue (3 to 4 hours of nav) to taste the paradisiacal beaches and coves and quickly escape from the bar located near the pontoon which puts the music on full blast until one o'clock in the night.
If you are fishing trolling during the crossing, you will probably have the chance to eat bonito at the evening meal!

Our cruise in the Seychelles was amazing! We were fortunate to swim with majestic manta rays. Their graceful movements in the water were breathtaking. The giant turtles were also a sight not to be missed. We swam alongside them and were able to observe them up close. The crystal-clear waters were teeming with colorful fish, making our experience even more magical.

Magical eden island
Even if from an ecological point of view it is debatable Eden island is a technical feat and offers exceptional comfort, sandy beaches, a shopping centre on a human scale, marinas with their feet in the water, practical and beautiful apartments, proximity to Victoria, a sumptuous vegetation.

Catamaran Charter
We chartered a Lagoon 38 Catamaran with a Skipper for two couples. Our Skipper, George, was fantastic! The boat was clean and everything was in working order. We didn't love the first night and last night moored on Eden Island because the boat is moored near a discotech club that boomed all night both nights, but that was really our only complaint of the whole week.
Our first day, we sailed (not motored) to Curieuse Island just off Praslin and George helped us cook the Tuna that we caught that day for dinner. The rest of the week was a blur of Giant Tortoises, SCUBA Diving, Snorkeling, and Sailing around Praslin and Le Digue Islands before making the crossing back to Mahe Island.
This was truly a memorable trip, made all the better by our skipper and new friend, George.

Great family stay in the Seychelles
Cruise with skipper-cook with 4 people on a Lagoon 380 . A very pleasant stay thanks to the skipper-cook who not only made us discover his country but also the best dishes of the Seychelles.
A delight!

Unforgettable
The experience of these 3 days and 3 nights will forever remain one of the best moments of our lives. The kindness of Derek, the skipper, his way of sharing his love for the Seychelles, the gargantuan meals he prepared for us with so much pleasure and imagination. All the moments spent on board, the excursions, there is nothing to throw away.
Derek, THE BEST! :-)
Thanks again for everything.

FAQ

Can we rent a catamaran with a skipper?

We offer boat rental options with a skipper or professional captain. This is ideal if you have no sailing experience or simply want to relax during your trip.

The skipper is responsible for onboard safety and has a deep understanding of local conditions, which can be crucial in sometimes challenging waters.

You can discuss the itinerary you'd like to follow with the skipper, based on your interests and available time. Local skippers typically have excellent knowledge of the area and can recommend places to visit.

Renting a catamaran with a skipper offers many benefits, including the opportunity to fully enjoy your journey without worrying about navigation, the route, or safety.

Do you offer day charter ?

A day of catamaran cruising costs €1300 (skipper and fuel included).

You can add a Seychellois chef and food for €50 per person.

The itinerary is flexible around Mahé and is defined based on your expectations and conditions: St Anne, Anse Royage, Beau Vallon, Bay Ternay, Anse Major.

You can find more information on this page.

Is it necessary to have a visa to visit Seychelles?

As a French national, you do not need to hold a visa for a short stay in Seychelles.

Before departure, all tourists must obtain a travel authorization through this platform: https://seychelles.govtas.com/

What luggage can I bring for my sailing vacation in the Seychelles ?

We recommend choosing soft bags for your boat cruise in the Seychelles, as suitcases can be bulky on board.

How to have internet during your cruise in the Seychelles ?

Cybercafés are available in Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. You also have the option to purchase a local SIM card for internet access or use certain local Wi-Fi hotspots, although the latter may have data restrictions.

What documents do I need to skipper a catamaran in the Seychelles ?

The Seychelles recognize foreign navigation licenses when translated into English. However, it is strongly recommended to have the ICC (International Certificate of Competence) to avoid any risk of invalidity.

Which language is spoken in the Seychelles ?

The national languages of the Seychelles are Seychellois Creole, English, and French.

What is the security deposit waiver insurance, and how does it work?

Security deposit waiver insurance, also known as franchise insurance, is an option offered by SAILOÉ.

This insurance aims to reduce the financial liability of the renter in case of damages or unforeseen expenses associated with the rental object.

Subscribing to insurance: When you rent a SAILOÉ boat, security deposit waiver insurance is usually offered to you as an additional option: 6% of the boat rental amount.

Reduction of the security deposit: If you subscribe to security deposit waiver insurance, SAILOÉ will reduce the amount of the security deposit you need to pay at the time of rental. For example, if the initial security deposit is 8,000 euros, by subscribing to the insurance, you could reduce this deposit to 1,500 euros.

Depending on your situation and needs, security deposit waiver insurance can provide additional peace of mind during your rental by reducing your financial liability in case of unforeseen issues.

What is included and not included in my rental ?

Included: Standard boat inventory and equipment, bed linens, shower towels, flippers, mask and snorkel, dinghy with its engine, fishing rod, and charcoal barbecue.

When you book one of our catamaran cruises, we ensure that your experience is as enjoyable as possible. To do this, we have included various equipment and amenities in your package so you can fully enjoy your journey in the Seychelles.

The standard boat inventory includes everything you need for a comfortable cruise, from kitchen utensils to safety equipment. You don't have to worry about bringing these basic items because we provide them for you.

For your comfort, we also provide bed linens and shower towels so you don't have to worry about packing your cabin with linen.

If you feel like exploring the crystal-clear waters of the Seychelles, we have also included flippers, a mask, and a snorkel. This way, you can dive in and discover the fascinating marine life of the region.

For your transportation between the boat and the beaches or nearby islands, our dinghy with its own engine is at your disposal. It will allow you to easily access the shore and explore the wonders that the Seychelles have to offer.

Finally, for those who enjoy fishing and outdoor grilling, we have included a fishing rod and a charcoal barbecue. You can catch your own dinner and prepare it on board for a unique culinary experience.

Not included: Cancellation insurance, island landing and mooring taxes, consumables (diesel, gasoline, water).

We want to ensure that your trip goes smoothly, which is why we would like to inform you of what is not included in your package.

Cancellation insurance is not included, but we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance that meets your needs and provides peace of mind in case of unexpected events.

Please note that island landing and mooring taxes are not included in the cruise price. These fees are typically collected by local authorities and may vary depending on the islands you visit.

As for consumables such as diesel, gasoline, and water, these costs are not included in the cruise rate and will be at your expense.

Payment methods: We accept payments by bank transfer as well as by credit card. We recommend that credit cardholders choose this payment method, as it may include additional travel insurance for your trip. This will allow you to benefit from the protection offered by your credit card in case of cancellation or unforeseen issues during your cruise.

We hope this information helps you better understand what is included in your Seychelles cruise package and what is not. If you have any further questions or specific needs, please don't hesitate to contact us, and we will be delighted to assist you in making your trip unforgettable.

How to choose the size of a catamaran for your cruise in the Seychelles ?

The choice of the size of the catamaran for your cruise in the Seychelles depends on several factors, including the number of people in your group, your comfort preferences, your sailing experience, and your budget. Here are some factors to consider to help you decide on the size of the catamaran that best suits your trip:

Group size: The first important consideration is the number of people who will be participating in the cruise. Catamarans are available in different sizes, from small models that can accommodate a few passengers to larger catamarans suitable for larger groups. Make sure to choose a catamaran that provides enough space for all members of your group to be comfortable.

Comfort: If you are looking for a high level of comfort with spacious cabins, private bathrooms, and generous living spaces, you will need to opt for a larger catamaran. Larger catamarans tend to offer more luxury and amenities.

Sailing experience: If you have sailing experience and may want to take control of the catamaran yourself, a smaller catamaran may be more suitable. However, if you prefer to leave the sailing to a professional crew, a larger catamaran with a crew may be the ideal choice.

Budget: The cost of renting a catamaran typically increases with its size. Therefore, it is important to consider your budget when choosing the size of the catamaran. Don't forget to factor in other costs associated with the cruise, such as food, fuel, and port fees.

Itinerary and destinations: Consider the itinerary you plan to follow in the Seychelles. Some sailing areas may be more suitable for smaller catamarans due to depth restrictions or limited access to moorings. Ensure that the catamaran you choose is suitable for the places you want to explore.

In the end, the choice of the catamaran's size will depend on your specific needs and personal preferences.

Can we rent a catamaran with a cook ?

It is entirely possible to rent a catamaran with a chef in the Seychelles. SAILOÉ offers this option to provide our clients with an even more comfortable and enjoyable sailing experience.

When you rent a catamaran with a chef, you typically enjoy the following benefits:

Customized meals: The onboard chef takes care of preparing all the meals, meaning you don't have to worry about cooking. You can discuss your dietary preferences, special diets, and dishes you'd like to enjoy during your voyage.

Local and international cuisine: The chef can introduce you to Seychellois cuisine as well as international dishes, depending on your tastes.

Time savings: You save precious time that you would have otherwise spent cooking or searching for restaurants on the islands you visit.

Maximum relaxation: You can relax and fully enjoy your journey without worrying about meal preparation or cleaning up afterward.

Personalized service: The chef can tailor meals to accommodate food allergies, specific dietary preferences, and the needs of your group.

Before booking a catamaran with a chef, make sure to discuss your dietary requirements, preferences, and associated costs with us. This option can enhance your cruising experience, allowing you to focus on relaxation and exploring the beautiful islands of the Seychelles

What to bring for a catamaran cruise in the Seychelles?

Opt for a soft and moderately sized bag: Soft bags are more suitable for saving space in the catamaran cabin, as they can fold and fit more easily than a hard suitcase. Additionally, a small bag can be easily carried with you during your stops on the different islands.

Essential clothing for a tropical cruise:

Light and comfortable clothing: Choose lightweight and breathable materials such as cotton or linen for t-shirts, shorts, skirts, and dresses. Bring multiple outfits to avoid having to wash your clothes every day.

Two swimsuits: Alternating between two swimsuits allows one to dry while you wear the other. Opt for light colors that attract less heat.

A sarong: Practical and versatile, a sarong can be worn as a skirt, a dress, or used to protect yourself from the sun and wind.

An outfit for evenings: While most catamaran cruises in the Seychelles are casual, pack a slightly dressier outfit just in case you dine at a restaurant on land.

Underwear and socks: Bring enough underwear for the duration of your stay, as well as a pair of lightweight socks for cooler nights.

Clothing and accessories to protect against the sun and rain:

The weather in the Seychelles is generally mild, but occasional tropical showers can occur. So, remember to pack:

A wide-brimmed hat: A wide-brimmed hat is ideal for sun protection during the day.

Sunglasses: Choose polarized lenses for better UV protection and to reduce glare from the water.

Sunscreen: Opt for sunscreen suitable for your skin type and water-resistant.

A lightweight rain jacket: To protect yourself from rain showers, choose a rain jacket that can easily be folded into your bag.

Appropriate footwear for a catamaran cruise and stops in the Seychelles:

Sandals: Opt for comfortable and well-fitting sandals, perfect for walking on the deck and on sandy beaches.

Water shoes: Essential for accessing rocky or coral areas, water shoes provide better traction while protecting your feet.

A pair of sneakers: If you plan to hike or bike during your stops, always pack a pair of lightweight and comfortable sneakers.

Useful accessories and equipment for the cruise:

An underwater camera: Being able to capture the wonders of the Indian Ocean underwater is invaluable. With a waterproof camera, you can immortalize these moments without worrying about damaging your equipment.

A tourist guidebook: Bringing a comprehensive guidebook on the Seychelles will help you discover the must-see attractions and hidden gems of the islands.

An electrical adapter: Check if your devices are compatible with the Seychelles' electrical outlets and remember to bring a universal adapter just in case.

A headlamp or a small flashlight: Quite useful when night falls on the docks or during evening activities ashore, this small source of light can come in handy.

Is it possible to fish during my cruise in the Seychelles?

Seychelles offer excellent opportunities for sea fishing, whether it's sport fishing or deep-sea fishing. You can catch a variety of fish, including tuna, marlin, dorado, and other prized species.

Some areas are off-limits for fishing to preserve the Seychellois marine environment. This is the case, in particular, in the vicinity of Port Launay Bay, Coco Island, and Curieuse Island.

Is it possible to go to the Amirantes with your boats?

Some of our boats are equipped to go to the Amirantes.

To reach the Amirantes, crews must obtain permission from the I.D.C, pay a landing fee, and must embark a locally accredited skipper.

What are the marine attractions to discover while sailing around Praslin?

Navigating around Praslin offers the opportunity to visit the famous Anse Lazio, renowned for its pristine beaches and waters ideal for paddleboarding. The islet of Saint-Pierre provides exceptional snorkeling opportunities, allowing visitors to explore colorful coral reefs and encounter a variety of tropical fish. The island of Curieuse is also worth discovering. It is famous for hosting a significant population of Aldabra giant tortoises, making it an iconic location for the observation and preservation of these endangered species.

The Aldabra giant tortoises on Curieuse Island are distinguished by their impressive size and curious behavior. Travelers can observe these majestic creatures moving freely in a preserved natural environment.

What are the must-visit places when renting a boat in Mahé ?

When renting a boat in Mahé, explore the beautiful beaches of Anse Royale and Anse Intendance, where you can enjoy fine sand and crystal-clear waters, as well as observe sea turtles that frequent the area.

Port Launay Beach is a true gem with its fine sand and calm, shallow waters. It's the perfect spot to relax, swim, and bask in the tropical sun
