Do you need a boating licence to charter a catamaran in Guadeloupe?
Local regulations in Guadeloupe do not require an official licence to sail in the waters of the archipelago. However, for a bareboat charter, Sailoe asks for a sailing CV attesting to sufficient experience: coastal or offshore navigation, nights on board, distance covered. If your experience is limited, the skippered option is the right solution: no qualification needed, our French-speaking skipper handles the navigation.
How many people can a Lagoon catamaran accommodate in Guadeloupe?
It depends on the model chosen. Our Lagoon catamarans accommodate between 4 and 12 people, spread across 2 to 6 cabins depending on the size of the boat. Check the listings of our Caribbean fleet to compare configurations, or tell us the size of your group in your quote request, and we will point you towards the right boat.
What is the best charter duration to discover the Guadeloupe archipelago?
One week (7 nights) is the ideal duration to comfortably visit the essential spots: Les Saintes, Marie-Galante and Petite-Terre. A stay of 10 to 14 nights lets you reach Dominica and sail at a more relaxed pace. Short charters of 3 to 5 days are possible subject to availability. See the itineraries page to refine your project.
Is night sailing allowed in Guadeloupe?
No. Night sailing is not allowed in Guadeloupe. Movements take place during the day, which means planning the legs while taking sunrise and sunset times into account. Our skippers and our base team factor this constraint into every pre-departure briefing: the itineraries we recommend are built so that each leg can be completed in daylight sailing.
