Seychelles by Catamaran: A Timeless Escape Between Turquoise Lagoons and Hidden Islands

Last April, Julie embarked with her family and friends aboard one of our catamarans for a 10-day escape in the Seychelles, surrounded by turquoise lagoons and endless horizons. Words can hardly describe this waking dream. The beauty of the experience seems to have exceeded all her expectations. Discover her story.

What impressed you the most when you first arrived in the Seychelles?
We were amazed by how close the islands are to one another: crossings often take less than an hour, making it easy to change scenery and fully enjoy every anchorage. But above all, the Seychelles have an atmosphere that is hard to describe — something truly unique, at once gentle, simple, and deeply intense.

Which island enchanted you the most, and what made it unforgettable?
We fell in love with Anse Lazio, on the island of Praslin: incredible colors, crystal-clear water, and magnificent marine life. That’s where we experienced some of our most beautiful moments — spectacular sunsets, unforgettable snorkeling sessions, and even a giant turtle swimming right beside us. A small beach almost entirely to ourselves, followed by dolphins appearing just as we were leaving… like one final sign promising that we would one day return to this paradise.

Now that you’re back home, what memories are your children still talking about?
They already want to go back! But most of all, they love talking about swimming with the turtles… We saw them every day underwater and, naturally, those encounters left a lasting impression on them.

What makes a trip to the Seychelles easier than people might imagine?
The Seychelles may seem far away, but traveling there is surprisingly easy. There is only a two-hour time difference with France (three hours in winter), so jet lag is minimal, and locals speak Creole, French, and English fluently. Exploring the islands by catamaran makes the experience even smoother: you can move freely from one island to another, discover hidden coves, and enjoy each day at your own pace. No sailing experience is required — you can charter a boat with a skipper, or even with a private chef for extra comfort.

If you had to sum up the Seychelles in a single memory…
If I had to sum up the Seychelles in one memory, it would be that feeling of being completely outside of time. For ten days, we lived in an almost unreal bubble: paradise-like landscapes, vibrant colors, a unique way of life, surrounded by the people we love. The kindness of the locals, the flavors, the serenity… everything feels more intense there. The magic of the Seychelles only truly reveals itself to those who experience it firsthand.

The Seychelles...
An archipelago that reveals itself slowly and stays with you long after you leave.

115 islands scattered across the Indian Ocean. Pink granite boulders rising from the sea like sculptures forgotten for millennia. Lagoons of almost unreal clarity, where you can see the seabed twenty meters below the surface. Turtles surfacing peacefully, completely undisturbed by your presence.

What strikes you most about the Seychelles, beyond their obvious beauty, is how untouched nature remains. Inhabited islands and deserted ones lie only a few nautical miles apart — and that is exactly where a catamaran makes all the difference.
